NYC Marathon 2020 Team Teal
In July of 2016 I lost my Mother-In-Law, Millie Galluzzo, to ovarian cancer. Unlike the sit-com stereotypes, my MIL was someone special to me, and more than "my wife's mom". She was a friend. Someone that I could share a joke with, clink a beer glass or debate current events (with a civility that is becoming a rare occurrence in today's world). She was 67, way too young to be gone and miss her 3 daughters' triumphs, her grandchildren's accomplishments and her siblings' milestones.
After her passing, my wife Christina and her sisters searched to find something we could do as a family to help raise awareness of and give support to the cause. That's when we found NOCC and saw all the wonderful things that the organization does for not only patients, but survivors, families, caregivers and more. We started with the Del Val Chapter's 5K (which we continue to do annually), and have continued with our support through other events.
This is our latest effort to raise funds and awareness for NOCC. And I'd be lying if I said that there's not just a bit of selfishness here to FINALLY get to run in the biggest, most renown marathon in the world. But this is important, and I'm proud to be a part of this.
So I'm asking you to help me reach my goal and help Team Teal as we support NOCC. This is great and important work and you should also feel proud and happy to give your support.
I know I got a little long here. If you're still reading, thanks. If you decide to give, even more thanks.
See you in November!
