MCM in Honor of my Mom - Patty Hinck
On May 20 of 2018 - my mom's birthday, I ran the Marine Corps Half Marathon and together we raised $8726 for the NOCC.
On November 3, 2019 Kurt and I ran the New York City Marathon and together we raised $9500 for the NOCC.
On October 25, 2020 I will be running my third race on behalf of the NOCC and Team Teal - the Marine Corps Marathon. This year I hope to raise $6774. For all of you math whizzes out there - that would bring us to a (nice, round) total of $25,000 for Ovarian Cancer awareness and research.
My mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January 2016. She fought like a champion for the next 22 months until she passed in November 2017. She fought for all of us and now it is our turn to continue to fight for her.
We support the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s mission to spread awareness and understanding of early signs and symptoms so that every woman gets the chance for a fair fight. My mom didn’t know she had anything to fight until it was already too late. But, despite the head start that the cancer had, she never backed down. We wish her strength could be bottled and shared with every woman facing the same challenge, but in the meantime, we will do all that we can to support the mission of the NOCC.
