Ovarian Cancer Awareness Fundraiser for the United Airlines NYRR and SHAPE Women's Half Marathons
Thank you for visiting. This cause is very dear to me, and I'll appreciate all the support I can get!
As some of you might know, my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2013. She fought for a solid 2 years undergoing multiple surgeries and rounds of chemotherapy. Despite her setbacks, she fought SO HARD and enjoyed life to her fullest potential during this time. She passed from this devastating disease in September 2015. I can't begin to explain the emotional and physical impact that my mother's cancer had on my family...and to think that 22,000 other families go through the same pain when one of their loved ones is diagnosed EACH YEAR. Prevention, diagnosis, and treatment is lacking - unacceptable for a cancer so difficult to catch early on and with such a low 5-year survival rate. WE NEED MORE MONEY FOR RESEARCH.
My mom LOVED to run. The best way I've been able to cope with losing her far too early is to keep lacing up my running shoes. Not only do I feel the most connected to her when I'm running, but I also feel that I'm putting in all of those miles lost too soon for her. This Spring, I'll be running the United Airlines New York Road Runners Half Marathon on March 17th and the SHAPE Women's Half Marathon on April 14th in NYC (the greatest city in the world). There is no other cause that I would rather run for or more worthy of my running for than ovarian cancer awareness and research. Please please please support me in this endeavor! Let's put an end to this horrible disease and prevent the women we love from ever being diagnosed.
Together we can make a difference!
