Ovaries before Brovaries

Dear Family & Friends,

On September 29th 2019, we are lacing up our sneakers and running the Chicago Half Marathon for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). We are taking on this challenge in memory of our mother/grandmother, Effie Kaparos, to honor her strength, resilience, and grace. This upcoming November will mark 20 years of her passing.

More than 22,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year, and over 14,000 women lose their lives from this disease. There is currently no early detection test for ovarian cancer. The NOCC's goal is to educate and increase awareness about the symptoms of ovarian cancer. The NOCC is also committed to the advancement of ovarian cancer research. The NOCC also provides information to assist newly-diagnosed patients, hope to Survivors, and support to caregivers.

We are running in memory of Effie Kaparos, to commemorate her perseverance and optimism throughout her life. We are raising funds on behalf of the NOCC to help save lives by fighting to prevent and cure ovarian cancer, as well as improve the quality of life for Survivors and their families.

We are asking for your help in exceeding our personal fundraising goal of $1,000 for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Any contribution will help those affected by ovarian cancer.

Thank you for supporting us in commemorating Effie Kaparos, as well as our fight against ovarian cancer.

With love,
Alexandria Muscolino, Kristina Muscolino, & Dina Kaparos-Stavropoulos
