Team Kristen: In Honor of Patty Barrier
Dear Friends and Family:
On November 3, 2019, I will be running in the New York City Marathon as part of Team Teal to raise money for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (“NOCC”). Although it will be challenging, I am motivated knowing that I am raising money for a worthy cause—one that is near and dear to my heart.
This year marks the one year anniversary of the passing of my beautiful Aunt Patricia Barrier. Patty bravely fought ovarian cancer for 13 months, before losing her battle with this horrible disease. For those of you who knew Patty, you know she was the one that always made everything more fun. Patty was the “big kid” who made birthdays, and holidays, and every family gathering extra special. Since her passing, I have contemplated the many ways in which I could honor her memory. I knew I wanted to support ovarian cancer research, but how? When I learned that the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition was an official Charity Partner of the New York City Marathon I knew this was the perfect way to honor Patty—particularly as spending time outside, and going for walks, was one of the things we enjoyed most together.
The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition is to dedicated to saving lives by fighting tirelessly to prevent and cure ovarian cancer and to improve the quality of life for survivors. For more than 25 years, NOCC has been committed to raising awareness, promoting education, and fundraising in support of woman, families, and communities impacted by ovarian cancer.
My goals, as part of Team Teal, are to complete the race (no easy feat at 26.2 miles) and to meet my personal goal of raising $3500 for NOCC. You can help me reach this goal by sponsoring my run.
Thank you in advance to each and every person who graciously contributes to my goal. I WILL make my Aunt Patty proud on November 3rd, and, with your support, together we can take one more step towards putting an end to ovarian cancer, and preventing one more life from being lost to cancer. As the Team Teal anthem so aptly states: “Together we are strong. And we will never back down.”
I. THANK. YOU.
